Will the front zip show through a fitted dress?
The zip sits flat against the body and is set into the panel, not raised on top of it. Under most fitted fabrics it stays invisible. Very thin, clingy materials like silky slip dresses are the exception.
Can I sit down and eat a full meal in it?

What do I do if I'm between sizes?
